Huge trees lined the faded dirt path, worn from centuries of feet padding across them, human, elf, dragon and otherwise. Fearless tendrils of unnamed plants snaked out, pushing themselves close to the edge of the road. Beams of sunlight shot through the gaps in the broad leaves, making the trail seem almost blessed from above.
It was here that Jedidiah strode c ockily along, pulling twigs and thin branches from the trunks of random trees and snapping them into miniscule pieces, leaving the impression of a windstorm's wrath in his wake. There's nothing to annoy here, save for a few squirrels... but those irritating rodents are no fun, now are they? he mused to himself, willing some poor soul to find him or herself on the same unfortunate path as Jedidiah.
The boy pushed a strand of stubborn, honey-blond hair from his eyes, only to have it fall back into place. A few more rounds of this pointless fight, then Jedidiah surrendered and sank down against a tree's trunk, letting his lids fall over his optics. He wasn't asleep, no, far from it, but it was fun to let others assume he was, or sometimes even dead.

Patches of sunlight shone and addressed and stood attention as Daenarian paced, no, strutted down the pathway, becoming ever-so vigilant. It was his own right to do so, for he was royalty and he was pride.
But as vines crept upon his feet and musty air wavered into his nostrils, he became hostile and quite unappreciative of the cool breezes, fresh air, and the beautiful view from whence he ruled. The King suddenly tumbled, even tripping he does it with grace, over an ignorant peasant's foot. He cried out in anger, "You fool! How dare you cross my path and defy my valor!" With a snappish attitude, he lashed out at Jedidiah with a firm grip, jostling him to aloofness. ((sorry for some powerplay there))

"Cross your path?" questioned Jedidiah, raising an eyebrow and allowing a small smirk to twitch at the corner of his mouth. "This is a border between Alagaesia and Du Weldenvarden. It doesn't belong to anyone, especially not the likes of you," he sneered, practically begging for Daenarian to give it his best. "Now, why'd you have to go and wake me?"

"You little brat! You can't and won't talk to me like that!" Daenarian thundered blindly, anger glazing over his optics. It didn't take long to light his fuse. He warily pressed a finger to a pressure point on Jedidiah, holding him in a vulnerable position. "Now, you apologize to your Elven King before I sentence you to death," retorted the monarch lowly, snarling like a wildcat.

"You aren't my king," snarled Jedidiah right back at him, just as voraciously. "You're an elf. I'm a human, controlled by a completely different man in a completely different area of Alagasia. You can't do anything to me." A confident grin, though its meaning marred by the possibility of death, plastered itself onto Jedidiah's face, radiating defiance like there was no tomorrow.

"That's not so! You're in my land, therefore I have control over you, which henceforth means I can kill you, low-life!" retorted Daenarian matter-of-factly, but in all his snobbishness, he was correct. And if this scum dared rebel against him anymore, it would mean capital punishment! The dictator glared malevolently at the human. Why should he even let a human be standing in his country? Elves are more intelligent, braver, dignified, and much taller than humans, but also better! It was pity and shame Daenarian didn't bring the human to his doom as it stood.

"But why would you kill over an incident that was your fault in the first place, hm? I was just trying to rest, then all of a sudden, I'm tripped over and yanked off the ground. I did nothing to you," retorted the boy. "Why don't you just let me go and pretend this never happened, okay?"

"No! I should kill you because you defied my words, embacil!" Daenarian roared, almost like a clap of thunder. This foolhardy boy was really pushing him over the edge and Daenarian had a short temper as it was. By now, he was trembling and quaking with fury and his muscles tensed along with his hands gripping firmer and firmer like an iron bear trap.

"I dare you," sneered Judidiah, glaring vehemently at the king of elves. Like this man could take him on! A small wiry frame was on the boy's side, as was speed and a brutal tongue that could hurl insults faster than any other.

Gradually, almost snakishly, a grin trekked its way over Daenarian's lips. "Oh, really? You dare me, hm? I like dares... mostly because I never lose them!" whispered the King, taking another grasp on Jedidiah. Suddenly, he shoved him in an attempt to get him on the ground. This human was no match for an elf, especially one that was vicious in the arts of thievery and violence.

With a heavy thud, Judidiah felt his back collide with the earth below him. "We're playing that way, huh? Didn't your mother ever tell you that pushing isn't kind, or is it just okay for royalty to shove everyone around because they're to arrogant to care?" By this time, the human was pushed up on his elbows, leaning c ockily against them.

"I can do anything I want," Daenarian snarled, placing his foot upon Jedidiah's chest. But, alas, the elven Ruler couldn't make out the rightful bloodline sauntering down the pathway, his mind deep in thought. Draik ran right into the Lord without even noticing. He stuttered an apology before actually recognizing who it was.

"Who're you?" piped Judediah from his position on the ground. "Can you get this oaf off of me? I kind of can't breathe, you see," explained the boy, pushing, in vain, against Daenarian's heavy leg.

"Daenarian.." Draik scowled as he shoved him off in one quick move. Daenarian stumbled backwards and made the most upsetting face in history. "And to your question, I'm Draik, son of Dranil, and rightful heir to the throne," he said, calmly at first and then more bitterly. The other simply snuffed. "Keep dreaming..." Daenarian muttered under his breath before pinning Draik to the ground as well when he was paying no mind. Draik felt his chest heave emptily as the Lord's hand wrapped itself about his neck and with his knees upon his diaphragm.

Sitting up, Judediah shoved Daenarian off of Draik. "So why aren't you in the throne? Why'd you let this thick oaf take your spot?" A distasteful glare shot at Daenarian from Judidiah. This guy was getting on his nerves. Only Judidiah could get away with that!
